An 80-year-old male resident at a Skilled Nursing Facility was admitted for healing and rehabilitation. While a resident, he sustained injury to two his right toes while being hoisted in a Hoyer Lift. No treatment was provided for the injuries resulting in infection. His right leg was amputated below the knee to treat an ankle abscess with osteomyelitis of foot and lower tibiae resulting from the injected right toes. Case settled for $400,000
