Nursing Facility Sued for hiding Rotting Leg Infection From Surgeon, Costing Patient Years of Surgeries and Permanent Disfigurement — $5.5 Million Settlement

A 42-year-old male became a resident at Skilled Nursing Facility after suffering a traumatic injury due to a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision. After undergoing intensive surgery, the doctor saved one of the man’s legs before he was transferred to the facility to rehabilitate. At the facility, his leg became infected, but the facility did not notify the operating surgeon despite the stench of the rotting leg.
