A 78-year-old gentleman was admitted to a Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility following a hip fracture. During his stay, the facility failed to provide appropriate wound care and treatment, failed to adequately turn and reposition him, and neglected his nutritional and hydration needs. As a result of this neglect, he developed a severe unstageable pressure ulcer to his sacrum. The matter resolved for $475,000 against the skilled nursing facility and $1,200,000 against an additional skilled nursing facility, for a total recovery of $1,675,000.
